O Town West to Add Superfoods Concept

O Town West to Add Superfoods Concept

WHAT NOW ORLANDO- Shanna Sloyer-Martin

Vitality Bowls will open a new location at The Village in the O Town West development late 2021 or early 2022 according to Franchisee Sergio Lopez.

The brand’s concept centers around açaí bowls, a thick blend of antioxidant-rich, organic açaí berries that originate from the Amazon rainforest. The benefits of consuming açaí have been hailed to alleviate arthritis pain, promote weight loss, lower cholesterol, and support overall general health. Lopez said Vitality Bowls’ health focus was what initially drew him to the company.

“I have a passion for health and wellness,” said Lopez. “Vitality Bowls is unique because we offer superfoods that aren’t available in just any grocery store or restaurant.”

The company’s signature menu item, the Vitality Bowl, includes organic açaí and the brand’s VB Blend, with superfoods like mangosteen, aronia berry, camu camu, moringa, açaí, blueberries, and pomegranate. Customers can also choose pitaya, graviola, or acerola as their bowl base as a substitute to açaí, and select from a long list of topping options like bananas, strawberries, dark chocolate, and coconut shavings.

All bowls are made fresh to order and are free from ice, frozen yogurt, artificial preservatives, trans fat and other fillers. Additional menu items include salads, protein bowls, wraps, avocado toast, smoothies, juices, paninis and soup.

Vitality Bowls is Lopez’s first venture into the restaurant franchise business, having spent the majority of his career in retail. He originally considered Park Avenue as a location, but had some reservations about managing his retail businesses from across town.

“When I saw O Town West, I fell in love with it. It’s an amazing opportunity to tap in to a growing community and tourist market. From a management standpoint, it was perfect.”

Vitality Bowls will join V’s BarbershopFlippers Pizzeria, and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice at The Village at O Town West. Unicorp National is heading the development, which is located between Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World and includes 80,000 square feet of commercial space.

Vitality Bowls Gets Ready for Growth Surge

Vitality Bowls Gets Ready for Growth Surge

During the first two quarters of 2021, the brand’s systemwide sales increased by 68 percent from the first half of 2020.

QSR MAGAZINE

Leading superfoods concept and allergy-friendly café, Vitality Bowls, is coming off of two successful quarters and is geared up for noteworthy expansion in the balance of 2021.

Approaching its 10-year anniversary in October of this year, the Northern California-based company has recently announced four new franchise agreements and seven new signed leases that will add more than 12 new stores to Vitality Bowls’ growing footprint, solidifying its status as a trailblazer in the health-food franchise space.

“After a strong start to the year, we are even more thrilled about what’s in store for Vitality Bowls in the months ahead,” says Roy Gilad, CEO of Vitality Bowls, who founded the company with his wife and company executive Tara. “Our development and operational teams have been hard at work for more than a year now, strengthening our franchise development strategies, planning and executing pivotal menu innovations and enhancing the capabilities and resources that go into the support we give to our franchisees.

During the first two quarters of 2021, the brand’s systemwide sales increased by 68 percent from the first half of 2020. And, the newly-announced Savory Menu that Vitality Bowls will launch nationally this fall, featuring grain bowls, salads, wraps and toasts, has already proved to be successful in selected regional test markets, resulting in reduced labor costs and increased store AUV, boosting sales performances for participating franchise locations across all test markets.

This month, Vitality Bowls also announced the addition of John Mascali to its leadership team. Joining the brand as its newest Chief Operations Officer, Danville, California-based Mascali will now lead national strategies and operational leadership to support café sales and operations.

“We’re so proud of our team’s resilience and continued commitment to our mission to bring healthy dining alternatives and allergy-friendly nutrition to local communities across the country,” adds Gilad. “As we celebrate our 10th year in business, Vitality Bowls is stronger than ever and we would not be in this position without the incredible work and dedication our corporate and franchisee team members have put in over the last decade.”

Nationwide growth remains a priority for the brand this year, and the company has identified markets in California, Texas, North Carolina, New York, Florida, Arizona, Tennessee and Florida as a natural next step for Vitality Bowls.

Since its inception in 2011, Vitality Bowls has become a bonafide leader in the health food industry. Originating in Northern California, Vitality Bowls has established itself as America’s superfood café – combining a dynamic café vibe with a unique collection of menu items containing high nutritional values and extraordinary tastes. The brand specializes in açaí bowls – a thick blend of the Amazon’s antioxidant-rich açaí berry, topped with a variety of superfoods.

DANVILLE, Calif. – Inc. magazine revealed that Vitality Bowls has been earned the #3899 spot on its annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment – its independent small businesses. This is the fourth year in a row that the brand has ranked on the list.

“We are thrilled to be featured in the Inc. 5000 list for a fourth consecutive year, especially during such an exciting time for Vitality Bowls,” said Roy Gilad, co-founder and CEO. “Over the past few years, we have been hard at work on our operational strategies, menu innovations and franchise development plans. Receiving this honor as we approach our 10-year anniversary in the fall is truly a testament to the dedication and diligence of our corporate and franchise team members.”

Not only have the companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 been very competitive within their markets, but this year’s list also proved especially resilient and flexible given 2020’s unprecedented challenges. Among the 5,000, the average median three-year growth rate soared to 543 percent, and median revenue reached $11.1 million. Together, those companies added more than 610,000 jobs over the past three years.

The top 500 companies are featured in the September issue of Inc., which will be available on newsstands on August 20.

“The 2021 Inc. 5000 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”

Over the last decade, the northern California-based Vitality Bowls has become a leader in the health food industry, selling well over six million açaí bowls since its inception. The brand celebrates its 10-year anniversary in October 2021, recognizing a successful decade for founders Tara and Roy Gilad after they first created Vitality Bowls as a result of discovering their daughter’s severe food allergies and wanting a restaurant concept with healthy, allergy-friendly food options.
