A popular restaurant chain has opened a new location in Berea.
Are you a fan of Vitality Bowls? If the answer is a resounding yes, then you might want to know that the popular chain has opened a new location in Berea. You can find the new restaurant at 347 Front Street.
The new restaurant offers a variety of acai bowls. The chain’s signature Vitality Bowl comes with organic acai, banana, strawberries, VB blend (which is made with superfoods like mangosteen, Aronia berry, camu camu, moringa, açaí, blueberry, strawberry, and pomegranate), organic granola, goji berries, and honey.
Other bowls on the menu include the Beach Bowl (which comes with an organic coconut blend, granola, strawberries, pineapple, and cacao nibs), the Blue Bliss Bowl (which comes with coconut, pineapple, mango, granola, banana, and blueberries), and more.
The chain also offers a variety of smoothies. Check out the Acai Elixir (which is made with organic acai, VB superfood blend, strawberries, and banana), Matcha Madness (which is made with organic acai, almond milk, banana, kale, dates, almond butter, organic matcha, and hemp seeds), and more.
The menu also includes some salads, a few wraps (the Vitality Wrap comes with avocado, super greens, a grain blend, hummus, roasted potato, radish, pickled red onions, lemon tahini vinaigrette, garlic aioli, and superseed crunch), and a few toast dishes like the superseed avocado toast, which comes on whole grain bread and is topped with avocado, grape tomato, feta cheese, superseed crunch, and sea salt.

BEREA, Ohio – Vitality Bowls, a superfoods café, is opening today – Friday, July 28 – in Berea.
Michael Todia and Susan DiMassa of North Royalton are opening the 1,380-square-foot health-focused eatery at 347 Front St. “We spent quite a few years trying to find a good location and exactly what we wanted to do,” DiMassa said. “Once we found the location everything just fell into place.” Added Todia: “It’s been a roller-coaster. Right now it seems like we have developed and built a really great team. The support of Vitality Bowls out of California has been awesome. We’re really excited about it.”
The menu will include healthy fast-casual items, so expect acai bowls, smoothies, fresh juices, wraps, grain bowls, toasts and salads. Acai bowls are made from a thick blend of the anti-oxidant berries and topped with granola and nutrient-packed superfoods, he said. When you think of college campuses you might think of bars and, well, more bars, but kids today have a concerted health-conscious focus, the couple said.
“A lot of these college kids are more aware of these healthy foods and a healthy environment and what’s around them,” DiMassa said. Both have daughters in college who love healthy foods, they said. “It’s definitely a trend,” she said. “I think it going to be part of the norm. People are looking for healthier alternatives.” A fireplace was delivered with a hole in it, so that’s the only part of the location that won’t be finished for today’s opening, Todia said, and a patio will be opening in about a week. To start, some outdoor seating will be available on the parking-lot side near the main entrance. The couple also has been planning a second location, in Brecksville, but no target date has been set, Todia said.
“We’re still planning on opening Brecksville, but we’re going to get this one up and running on its feet first. Brecksville will open when the time is right,” he said. “We’ve been truly blessed with this opportunity,” Todia said.

Dawn and Tristan Moss have opened their first Vitality Bowls, a superfood café specializing in açaí bowls, smoothies, grain bowls, salads, and wraps, in West Bloomfield.
The café is located at 6385 Orchard Lake Road, near the Orchard Mall Shopping Center. The restaurant is the second Vitality Bowls location in Michigan, joining an existing café in Grand Rapids.
“We are thrilled to introduce Vitality Bowls to West Bloomfield and share our healthy and delicious menu items with the community,” says Dawn Moss. “Tristan and I are very passionate about healthy eating.”
The West Bloomfield location features six newly released menu items, as well as groovy guava, purple passion, or piña colada smoothies. Other new additions to the menu include nutrient-rich bowls like the island bowl, made with guava, organic acerola, banana, coconut shavings, and mulberries; and the beach bowl, crafted with an organic coconut blend and topped with organic granola, strawberries, pineapple, and cacao nibs.
In addition to açaí bowls and smoothies, the brand offers a diverse menu that includes salads, grain bowls, wraps, and toasts loaded with all natural, grass-fed and sous-vide prepared meats, nutritional ingredients, and a wide range of superfood toppings.
“Every Vitality Bowls serves as a place where anyone can come in and enjoy a nutritious meal in a vibrant, allergy-friendly café setting,” says Tara Gilad, founder and president of Vitality Bowls. “Dawn and Tristian are passionate about healthy eating and balanced lifestyles, and we look forward to seeing the duo grow their business and share the Vitality Bowls message within their community.”
There are currently more than 130 Vitality Bowls locations open or in development across the United States.
Vitality Bowls has become a bonafide leader in the health food industry since its inception in 2011, offering acai bowls, smoothies, juice, wraps, salads and panini. All Vitality Bowls menu items are prepared in a kitchen designed to avoid cross contact for customers with food allergies. The brand’s menu items are also free of ingredient fillers such as ice or frozen yogurt, giving the purest taste possible.

Casual ice cream and froyo
Wrongly reported “closed” on Yelp, Richardson’s Farm ice cream in the Somerville Theatre is very much thriving after the theater’s renovation. This small outlet of a Middleton company offers some of the cheapest ice cream around Camberville, with large portions – a massive scoop is only $4, a dollar or more under dedicated shops – and a rotating list of flavors such as German Chocolate Cake, Campfire S’mores and Banana Crunch (with banana and graham cracker) to keep you company during a movie or performance. You can also walk out with your ice cream, no ticket needed, from the lobby of the Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square.
Another tucked-away spot: Yotopia of The Shops at Porter, a collection of international restaurants and stores inside Lesley University’s University Hall, 1815 Massachusetts Ave., Porter Square. Alongside various Asian eateries is this frozen yogurt and boba tea shop, serving some of the area’s lowest prices since owner Sang Cho opened eight years ago. Classic froyo flavors such as Cookies and Cream and Matcha are 55 cents an ounce; a decently filled cup costs around $3. “People tell me my prices are too low, I need to go up,” Sang Cho said.
Açaí bowls and smoothies
Vitality Bowls hosts a “summer menu launch party” on Friday and Saturday: a buy-one-get-one-free deal on any açaí bowl, including new flavors: the Island Bowl (guava, acerola, banana, coconut shavings and mulberries), the Beach Bowl (coconut blend topped with granola, strawberries, pineapple and cacao nibs) and the Blue Bliss Bowl (pineapple, coconut, mango and blue spirulina topped with granola, banana, blueberries and coconut shavings). Many are marketed as “superfoods.”
“We qualify something as a superfood as anything with high elements of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber,” said Tim Johnson, owner of Vitality Bowls Cambridge. “If you’re looking for something different, bananas and oranges you’re going to get anywhere. But açaí berries, bee pollen, spirulina – they’re a little more niche, and the health benefits are proven.”
Also coming this summer are three new smoothies, Johnson said: Groovy Guava, Purple Passion and Pina Colada.
Pammy’s restaurant and Bully Boy Distillers team up from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday to serve Pammy’s signature Italian Hero Sandwich and Bully Boy’s Tre Fratelli (meaning “three brothers”) gin – but you’ll have to cross the river to the distillery near Nubian Square at 44 Cedric St., Boston.
Inspired by a conversation during a family meal, owner and chef of Pammy’s Chris Willis and his brothers Will and Dave Willis, owners of Bully Boy Distillers, decided to create Tre Fratelli gin exclusively for Pammy’s. This night only, Bully Boy offers it in cocktails, at a sampling station and in bottles.
One $38 ticket gets you an Italian Hero Sandwich, gin cocktail and access to the Cocktail Garden. You can buy them here.
